GIS Day 2025 celebrations

 As part of the GIS Day 2025 celebrations, NATPAC organised a series of outreach programmes to promote geospatial awareness among students and academic institutions.

Following the first event held on 19 November 2025 at KMEA Engineering College, another technical session and hands-on workshop was conducted on 21 November 2025 at Sree Narayana Gurukulam College of Engineering, Kolenchery, Ernakulam.The sessions were handled by Mr. B. Anish Kini, Dr. Anila Cyril, and Ms. Ardra S. Krishna.
The training covered the basics of GIS, including its components, methods, and analytical tools. Participants were introduced to key software functions, starting with digitization and concluding with map preparation for visualisation.
The session helped students and faculty understand how GIS can support their academic work and future projects.

GIS Day 2025

 Delighted to share that NATPAC Scientists celebrated GIS day 2025 in association with KMEA Engineering College, Aluva with the conduct of One day workshop aimed at providing an Overview of GIS to both the students and faculty on 19.11.2025. It started off with a short quiz to guage the understanding of participants. Thereafter the technical sessions covered:

1. Basics of GIS
2. GIS - components, methods and applications 
3. Data types and analysis

The afternoon session involved hands-on training to faculty which provided a basic understanding about the coordinate system, projected coordinate system, creation of layers by digitization, inputting data into attribute table etc. Creation of map and its elements were also practiced for better representation/ visualizations in reports/ documents. Overall it provided a basic understanding to the students and faculty on how to work with GIS. Hopefully this has sown the seeds for budding students to build upon that has the potential to assist them in their future endeavors.

Received the trophy from Mr. Anand Jayan, Regional Manager, ESRI India, for the GIS Day – Celebrate and Win Contest 2024, exactly one year after conducting the program.

The 33rd talk in this series is to be held on Monday, 24th of November 2025 at 9:30 am IST through online mode. The speaker for the session is Dr. Anuj Sharma, Professor, Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering, Iowa State University. NATPAC, in association with the IIHS and MoRTH, organised a training programme on “Best Practices and Case Studies in the Transport Sector” on 11 November 2025 at the NATPAC Head Office, Akkulam, Thiruvananthapuram.
The sessions highlighted the following topics:
Blackspot Management and Safe Corridor Demonstration Project (SCDP): Data-Driven Approaches for Road Safety
Comprehensive Mobility Planning and Smart Transport Systems
Technical Field Visit: Safe Corridor Demonstration Project and Automatic Emergency Vehicle Priority System









 

 Two of our scientists, Dr. Praveen P S and Mr. Ashik K. Azad, represented KSCSTE-NATPAC at the 84th Annual Session of the Indian Road Congress, held in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, from 7th to 10th November 2025.

As part of its 50th Foundation Day celebrations, KSCSTE-NATPAC organised a medical camp for its employees on 6th November 2025. The camp was conducted in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Diabetes, Pulayanarkotta, in connection with the observance of World Diabetes Day 2025. The initiative aimed to promote health awareness and early detection of lifestyle diseases among employees.

IIRS Outreach Programme (Course ID-173) through NATPAC as Nodal Centre

The training programmes will be conducted online through live and interactive sessions, as per the schedule published by IIRS-ISRO. Daily schedules will be made available on the ECLASS platform, and participants are expected to attend classes as per the published timetable.

Key Guidelines:

Participants must attend live sessions in groups at the nodal centre, strictly following the course schedule.

The examination schedule will be announced by IIRS-ISRO and must be attended under the supervision of the nodal centre coordinator.

Participants securing a minimum of 50% in the examination will receive a "Merit Certificate" from ISRO.
